COVID-19 Funeral Assistance

Under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, FEMA will provide financial assistance for COVID-19-related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020.

Special Enrollment for Health Insurance

Special Enrollment period for Health Insurance is open until August 15. You may qualify for a plan as low as $0/month!

Help Prevent Sewer Backups

We encourage everyone to think before pouring FOG down drains and in toilets.  FOG related grease blockages increase the sewer operation and maintenance costs resulting in higher sewer bills for all.

A New You Counseling Center

Lamar Native and Licensed Professional Counselor, Kelvin Durant, is bringing a new resource to Town in July!

Town Council Meetings

Council Meetings are being held with no public attendees. Town Council welcomes all Citizens to submit questions/comments for meetings no later than 12 p.m. the day of a meeting.

Hurricane Florence Recovery Program

The Program brings assistance to single family homes or mobile homes that were damaged by Hurricane Florence. And offers home buyouts for floodplain counties.

Lamar’s Great American Cleanup

Take Pride in Our Town! Help a neighbor and join in by cleaning up debris in your yards! March 27 – April 2. Kickoff at Town Hall on March 27 @ 8:30 a.m. Call Town Hall for yard waste pickup.

Driver Suspension Eligibility Week

Lamar High All-State Player Aniya Gates

The South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association has announced its list of All-State players. 18 High School athletes were chosen across the Pee Dee. Our very own Aniya Gates was named a 1-A All-State player!

Safe Fox Valentine’s Day

Over the weekend The Town of Lamar and The Lamar Police Department extended a small gesture of love to the warm-hearted women in our Safe Fox Program.

Football Camp & Softball Signups

Let’s get active! The Recreation Department is taking registrations for Little League Softball & bring your youth to the FREE Youth Football Camp at Lamar Park on Feb 27!

Town of Lamar Mask Ordinance

At the March Council Meeting, Council voted to extend the Mask Ordinance, with an expiration date of May 10. Face coverings will remain required in retail and foodservice establishments.

Lamar Town Council Special Election

A Special Election was held on Jan 12, to fill 1 position on Town Council. Mr. Tyler Cook won the election and was sworn in on the Town Hall Lawn on Jan 20.

Need assistance? Funds are available to assist Darlington County citizens with lights, gas, kerosene, rent, mortgage and water. Find out how you can get help today.

Voting in Lamar

Polling stations are set up at Town Hall & Lamar High School. Polls will be open Nov 3 from 7 am – 7 pm. Disposable swabs will be available for touchless voting.

Halloween in Lamar

Happy Halloween! The Lamar Police Department and Council ask that you please observe door-to-door trick-or-treating from the hours of 4 pm to 7 pm ONLY. No Halloween masks are allowed inside businesses. The PD will be on patrol during evening hours.

Smoke Testing Sanitary Sewer System

The Town of Lamar Water and Sewer Department will be conducting smoke testing of its sanitary sewer system on October 22, 2020 and could last for several days. Please read to know if your street will be affected.

Vote Early

While there is no location in Lamar for early voting, you may visit the following locations to perform in-person absentee voting to cast your ballots.  Be sure to have your photo ID with you!

David Beasley Wins Nobel Peace Prize

Lamar Native, and former Governor David Beasley, serves as Chief Director for The United Nations World Food Programme. It is the world’s largest humanitarian agency, providing food to millions across the globe in the fight against hunger. The organization has won a Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts in combatting hunger!
